In 2015 the college was granted funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to research and interpret our Second World War history. Months were spent in archives and interviews with Newbattle veterans were undertaken, all with the help of wonderful volunteers, in order to share our fascinating wartime heritage with you. Read on to discover:

  • the history of Newbattle over the 1939-48 period.
  • a collection of photographs of No 1 Army Formation College.
  • 7 oral history interviews recorded with Newbattle veterans.

  • an interpretive booklet about Newbattle and the War.
  • an exhibition of objects.
  • learning resources – lesson plans and work booklets containing ideas for school projects.
