Volunteers

The College’s volunteer tour guides’ hard work was recently rewarded when the group won the IndigoVision Award for the Preservation of the Environment & Heritage. Rae McGhee accepted the award on behalf of the College.

Jessica Adams of IndigoVision said that amongst the reasons the judges had decided in favour of the Newbattle team was their passion for history and heritage and that they can be counted on to lead tours and assist at extremely short notice. Their enthusiasm for the volunteer role is second to none. Also, thousands of visitors to the College have benefited from the volunteers recounting the very unique story of Newbattle in a local and global context from medieval times to present day.
Well done to tour guides: Jennifer Sipple, Carol Hunter, Norman Brett and Stephen Hamilton.
The College is recruiting new volunteers to join its current team of tour guides.
